"When Angels Purr"
The 3rd Annual When Angels Purr benefit was a purr-fect success. Not only did we raise over $3000 for the Humane Society of Sarasota County, we claim the world’s record of the largest gathering of Sarasota area cat lovers in one room.

Over 100 people gathered in the ballroom at Michaels on East on Sunday afternoon, February 24th for the numerous kitty-related attractions: silent auction, cat books and purses, pet photographer, pet psychic, adoptable HSSC cats, and Hill’s veterinary nutritionist booth. A simply fabulous gourmet brunch buffet and dessert bar was provided, and cat lovers enjoyed mingling with the guests, purchasing kitty souvenirs, making new friends and generally celebrating their love of cats.
Yours truly, Sarasota’s own “Dr. Purr,” provided a slide show “THE POWER OF MEOW”, about listening to your cat’s subtle language and learning to communicate better with our feline companions. Everyone must have been paying attention because they all passed the “quiz” with flying colors.
Last, but certainly not least, door prizes were drawn, with the final winner receiving “free cat food for a year”, courtesy of Hill’s Pet Nutrition. The winner, Sydney Hauser, happened also to be the artist of our “logo”, and she in turn donated half her cat food to the Humane Society kitties. Thank you Sydney!
And thank you to all our volunteers, attendees and contributors who helped make this such a success. On behalf of cats and cat lovers everywhere, we encourage everyone to spread the word there is a growing “kitty community” in our town… We hope my blog www.DrPurrsHappyCats.blogspot.com will serve to encourage more communication among us, and provide new insights into how you can enrich the lives of cats in your home and your community.

Blog
This is an ongoing “web log” about cat health from my special
perspective as a feline veterinarian. With my blog I am hoping to
reach and inform cat owners not only locally but nationwide.
Comments are always welcome!
Sarasota Pet Newsletter
I am pleased to announce a great new publication for Sarasota
pet owners: a newsletter called Sarasota Pet. Recently launched
by Candace Botha, this newsletter will explore all aspects of pet care,
pet health, and pet related events in a beautiful glossy publication to
be published bi-monthly. Even better, Candace is showing her support
for our homeless friends by pledging part of all subscription proceeds
to the Humane Society of Sarasota County.
Please join our Sarasota kitty connection in welcoming Candace in
her new endeavor and by subscribing for a very reasonable $9.95
for six issues a year.
